Have your say on the new Firefighters’ Memorial

CFA members still have time to have their say on a new Firefighters’ Memorial, with the online survey now made easier to access.

The memorial recognises the 67 CFA members and the 11 Bushfire Brigades’ firefighters who paid the ultimate sacrifice serving their community.

Following feedback from members, there's no longer a need to register to fill out the survey.

CFA’s Fiskville Project Executive Director Lex de Man said the survey provided CFA volunteers and staff an opportunity to voice their views about the Memorial design, including what materials should be used and its location.

“So far the survey has received constructive, well-thought-out replies from members from throughout CFA’s districts with District 8 providing the most feedback,” Mr de Man said.

“Seventy five per cent of respondents have previously visited the former Fiskville Firefighters’ Memorial and currently it’s a popular choice for what a new memorial should look like.

“Some respondents have used other CFA memorials, Melbourne’s Shrine of Remembrance and the Victoria Police Memorial as examples of what the memorial could look like.”

Many respondents believe the design should include the CFA logo or a sculpture.

A project team is talking with families and brigades who have lost members, to gain their insight and input.

The online survey can be found here and ends at 11.59pm on Friday, 2 October 2015.
