Firefighters in CFA’s North West region were called to a large haystack fire yesterday evening (4 November) in Nanneella.
More than 65 large square hay bales were fully alight across a 40-metre square area and fire had spread to 200 tyres when brigades arrived just after 5.30pm.
Seven CFA trucks from Rochester, Tongala, Timmering and Corop attended.
The bales were left to burn out under supervision as crews focused on extinguishing the tyres.
Community advice was issued for large amounts of smoke in the area. The fire was under control at 6.19pm.
