CFA crews continue to monitor and clean up in Waurn Ponds with a HAZMAT incident at Deakin University starting from approximately 2pm on 11 July.

Five appliances including a specialist HAZMAT vehicle are on the scene with a further three appliances, including two from MFB, en route.

CFA crews contained the substance to one building, located at the back of the campus, with no students or staff presently at risk.

It is advised that students, staff, and community members stay away from the scene.

"There is no threat to anyone at Deakin or in the area."
