CFA passes on home fire safety tips to Heyfield community

On Wednesday 13 June, over 45 community members from Heyfield and surrounding townships gained vital home fire safety education from CFA's 'reduce the risk' program.

Community Education Coordinator Jodie Wilmes partnered with Heyfield Community Resource Centre, which hosted the home fire safety education session.

The attendees were given a 30-minute theory session focusing on 'hot spots' in their home. Participants were keen to learn about how to put out fires safely in their homes, fireplace safety, and the importance of testing and maintaining their smoke alarms.

The session was then taken outdoors where participants were given a practical demonstration on the effective use of a fire blanket and the use of fire extinguishers. Each household was given a fire blanket to take home.
