Mt Arapiles is a popular climbing spot

The man was attempting to scale Watchtower Crack Climb, on Mt Arapiles, when he became wedged between two rocks.

He'd been stuck for several hours before nearby climbers heard his calls for help and alerted authorities.

A joint rescue involving CFA, SES and police was carried out, with rescuers performing a high angle rescue, managing to secure a line around the man before helping him up the cliff face.

The climber was treated at the scene by Ambulance Victoria.
