During a trip in October 2012 across the Nullarbor to Kalgoorlie, former CFA Board member and ex-captain of Rowville brigade John Raymond saw a caravan set up in an isolated place on the roadside. This vision led to discussions with a number of CFA friends resulting in the idea for the formation of a CFA Caravan Club.
The club was supported by CFA, with formal recognition and approval to use the CFA logo. Membership is open to all current and former CFA volunteers and past and present employees.

The formation of the CFA Caravan Club is a great way to prevent isolation, access the reviews of others who have done trips, promote the safe and responsible operation and towing of caravans, and link like-minded people with a common interest.
The Trips
The CFA Caravan Club has so far had runs to Yea and Bendigo with the next to be at Lakes Entrance in May 2015. The companionship and camaraderie amongst the members are the best part of the weekends away, with a communal dinner held on the Saturday night for everyone to get to know each other and swap yarns.
This is also an opportunity to find out where people are planning to go during the year with their caravans and for others to tag along for all or part of the trip.
What better way to enjoy your caravanning experience than to travel with a group from the CFA 'family’ who share a common passion for caravanning and travel. Many members have already met while caravanning around our country.
