House destroyed in Lysterfield fire

A family home was destroyed by fire in Lysterfield last night (22 Dec).

CFA was called to the Belgrave-Hallam Road property just before 7.30pm.

On arrival, three-quarters of the single storey weatherboard home was well alight.

Due to the size of the land, access to water was difficult so 16 vehicles were called to the scene.

The two occupants at home at the time escaped safely.

It took firefighters around 30 minutes to control the blaze but unfortunately the house couldn’t be saved.

CFA vehicles from Narre Warren, Hallam, Frankston, Belgrave South, Narre Warren North, Berwick, Narre Warren East, Upwey, Dandenong, Belgrave Heights and Casey Group.

Some crews remained on scene blacking out until after midnight.

The cause of the fire is unknown and is being investigated today.
