Join us at the Midsumma Pride March

Message from Acting Executive Manager, Inclusion and Fairness Natalie Kenely

The 25th Anniversary of Pride March will take place on the streets of St Kilda on Sunday, 2 February 2020, and I encourage everyone to march with CFA as we demonstrate our commitment and support for the LGBTIQ+ community.

Join

The Midsumma Pride March is held every year as part of the Midsumma Festival, a three-week event that attracts hundreds of thousands of people to Melbourne.

CFA has participated in the march for the past five years to support our LGBTIQ+ volunteers and staff and highlight our commitment as an inclusive and fair organisation.

Our people are fully reflective of the broader community in which we serve, coming from all walks of life, and bring a rich range of skills, experience and community spirit. CFA is fully committed to supporting all our people, volunteers and staff, and to create a safe, respectful and welcoming environment where we all work together.

Our involvement in Midsummer and the Pride March began in 2014, the same year CFA Pride was formed to bring focus to CFA’s LGBTIQ+ community.

Participating in Midsumma highlights our commitment to embracing diversity within CFA and across our communities. Inclusion, equality and appreciation are important for all members including our LGBTIQ+ community, friends, family and supporters.

So come along, join us in the march or show your support for CFA Pride along the parade route.

Let’s show Victorian communities that they are welcome to join us, and let’s keep working towards a inclusive, diverse, safe and supportive CFA.

CFA will be marching along with other emergency services on Sunday 2 February. Emergency Management Pride Network Victoria (EMPNV) and CFA Pride welcome all members and friends to participate in the Pride March and walk together.

Joining us at Midsumma Pride March 2020 is just one of the small ways you can stand up and show your support for your LGBTIQ+ friends and family.

CFA people are to wear clean yellow wildfire fighting pants. Involvement is open to all CFA members, as well as families and friends.
