Junior Volunteer Development Program update

New support for junior brigades through the Junior Volunteer Development Program (JVDP) was launched on 18 February with the introduction of updated information and forms.

Junior members will have access to personal identification cards, enabling them to formally identify themselves as junior members of CFA. The card features a similar design to the existing member ID card, only blue in colour, and applications can be made via Brigades Online using the member ID card system. Following the approval of an application, the card will be mailed to the junior member’s registered postal address within four weeks. The cards will be used to identify junior members when participating in CFA-related activities, including championships.

All junior members are encouraged to apply for an ID card and, if required, assistance should be sought from their brigade’s member ID administrator. Member ID cards can be applied for here.

Staff from OT&V will be available at the upcoming State Championship events in Horsham, Bendigo and St Arnaud to help members apply for ID cards. If you are attending any of these events be sure to pop into the corporate tent to say hello!

A suite of new materials for the JVDP, also released on 18 February, provide up-to-date information on the establishment, management and resourcing of junior brigades. The new materials include a refreshed guidebook; application forms for new junior brigades, leaders and members; record book; and information on Working with Children Checks, policy and process. The materials is available via Brigades Online and printed materials will be sent to junior leaders and junior brigade secretaries in the coming weeks.

The new JVDP page on Brigades Online can be found here.
