Kalorama home destroyed

*Update as of 9:10am Thursday 3 July*

Crews have returned to the scene this morning to extinguish remaining hotspots, there may be smoke visible in Kalorama and across the Mount Dandenong Tourist Road for the next few hours.

A brick home on Kalorama’s Scenic Crescent has been destroyed by fire and the street is still closed off while crews extinguish hot spots.

The split level brick house was fully involved when CFA crews first arrived at 3:55pm today and seven trucks from Kalorama, Montrose and Sassafras brigades worked together to contain the fire and make the scene safe.

No one was home at the time of the blaze.

Around ten houses are still blocked off due to the road closure. Operations Officer Tim Holland advises that local residents will be able to return when CFA crews wrap up in around 90 minutes.

Victoria Police, the power company and a local council building surveyor also attended.

A CFA fire investigator will attend to determine the cause.
