It’s week two of the Emergency Services Blood Challenge and CFA is in a strong second position.

At CFA, the challenge presents a unique opportunity for a bit of friendly competition with our fellow emergency services. Each blood donation made quoting the CFA Lifeblood team counts towards CFA’s overall tally until the challenge ends on 31 August.
So far CFA members have made 230 donations saving 690 lives, not far off Victoria Police who are leading with 278 donations.
Chiltern Fire Brigade 1st Lieutenant Shannon Beacom has been donating since 2015 and has already taken part in the challenge.
“I’ve been to many accidents since being part of CFA and seen firsthand how blood infusions can save lives.
“If I can do my part to help supply blood and plasma for treatment of anyone who needs it I find it such a rewarding feeling.
Shannon said his experience with donating is always pleasant.
“I’d encourage everyone to donate, meeting new and different people who donate is fantastic and the staff are lovely to deal with."
The challenge is held each year to encourage groups and organisations to donate blood over the winter months when donations are impacted by the cold and flu season. Find out more about the challenge.
