Lancefield fire investigation announced

During the past few days there has been significant concern raised about how the planned burn near Lancefield escaped containment lines.

Today the Environment Minister, Lisa Neville, announced the Director of Western Australia’s Office of Bushfire Risk Management, Murray Carter, will lead an investigation into the fire, including the timing of it.

We welcome the investigation. It’s important any lessons from this investigation are shared among all agencies.

I want to acknowledge the significant work being done by CFA firefighters who are working with DELWP to manage the fire.

While it’s been an early start to the fire season, we have shown that as an organisation we are prepared and ready to protect the community when we are needed.
