Landfill blaze in Kilmany

CFA firefighters were called to an early morning fire at the Kilmany Landfill today, 4 May. 

Shortly before 8am crews were notified to a fire at the tip.

District 10 Operations Officer David Ellams said workers arrived this morning to find the tip face on fire.

“The blaze is approximately 100 metres in size,” Mr Ellams said.

“Around 30 CFA volunteers are on scene battling the blaze.

“Council is on scene with a water appliance as well as digging machinery.”

Brigades will be on scene for an extended period of time and at this stage the cause of the fire is unknown.

Seven CFA trucks from Sale, Nambrok, Winnindoo, Rosedale, Traralgon South and Churchill are in attendance.
