Last weekend to thank Ritchies

Brigades such as Emerald and Cockatoo will be outside their local Ritchies store this Saturday handing our community safety information and Community Benefit cards as part of the last weekend of promotions for Ritchies.

Since the Community Benefit Card Program began in the area, the Cockatoo brigade has received over $84,000 and the Emerald brigade has received over $200,000 from the program.

Julian Ketskemety, Captain of the Cockatoo brigade said the brigade is very grateful for the donations received from Ritchies and its customers over the years.

“The brigade recently bought seven new UHF portable radios to allow better communication between firefighters at Incidents, particularly road accidents,” Julian said.

Simon Arnold, Emerald brigade member said the brigade is also grateful to Ritchies.

“Brigades are permitted to purchase their own special purpose vehicles in addition to the CFA supplied tankers and pumpers. With the assistance of donations from the Emerald Ritchies SUPA IGA, we were able to purchase a salvage appliance which is a multipurpose resource designed to function as a control point during a complex incident and provide salvage and overhaul support to crews where needed on the fireground.”

Operational since late 2011, this invaluable asset plays a significant role in helping us deliver our services to the community,” Simon said.

Other brigades such as Cobden, Dromana, Pakenham, Rosebud and Christmas Hills will also be out in force at their local stores this weekend.
