Laurimar Sports Ground clubroom fire

At around 11.37am, Tuesday 20 August, Doreen Fire Brigade responded to a fire at a local sports ground.

 

The fire, which broke out in the clubrooms, presented a challenging scenario as the rooms were engulfed in smoke. 

Undeterred, the firefighters worked together diligently to contain the fire and prevent its further spread, showcasing their professionalism and dedication to protecting the community.

Doreen Fire Brigade Captain Matt Stoneham expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the exemplary efforts of the crews in effectively managing the dynamic situation. The quick thinking and coordinated actions of the firefighters were instrumental in successfully tackling the fire believed to have been started by an electrical fault.

In particular, Firefighter Shane Franklin was commended for his decisive leadership and efficient utilisation of available resources, which played a crucial role in bringing the situation under control.

Doreen brigade received valuable support from crews from Mernda brigade and Fire Rescue Victoria, which further emphasised the spirit of collaboration within the firefighting community.
