Firefighters in CFA's District 14 are leading by example by taking part in practical driving and leadership courses ahead of the fire season.
The courses being delivered are the Drive Off Roads Course, Crew Leaders Course & Strike Team Leaders Course.
Many hours of theory have already been completed as the students now move on to put what they have learnt into practice.
Over the next few weeks there will be many practical days involving participants from across the district under the watchful eye of Instructor Lindsay McHugh and his band of volunteer educators in and around Bullengarook, Kinglake and Tallarook.
The Drive Off Road Course gives drivers the opportunity to experience various conditions in multiple vehicles from FCV, ultralights and tankers with an instructor.
The Crew Leader Course identifies and enhances the leadership skills of the participants.
The Strike Team Leaders Course encourages participants to make sound judgements under pressure while ensuring the welfare of the crews.
The courses are all very well run, developed over many years with excellent outcomes for the participants.
