Legends support sportsman's night

The Elphinstone and Kangaroo Flat brigades joined forces in June to host a sportsman's night at the Kangaroo Flat Sports Club.

Former AFL players Spida Everitt, Terry Daniher and Phil Carman and International Test Cricketer Damien Fleming entertained the 90 guests, recalling their achievements on the national and international sports stage.

Very entertaining stories were shared by each of the speakers Terry Daniher on his encounter with former Prime Minister Bob Hawke at the 1977 Brownlow Medal after-party for Graham Teasdale; Spida Everitt on his encounters on dancing with the stars; Phil Carman on those white boots he wore in the 1970s; and Damien Fleming on his role as bowler in the final over of the drawn world cup semi-final against South Africa in 1999.

There was also an auction of memorabilia during the evening, bringing in much-needed funds to help purchase new equipment at Elphinstone and fit-out of the new station currently under construction for Kangaroo Flat.

A special thanks to Peter and Corinne Farley and Spida Everitt for bringing much of the night together.
