Let’s park it

The popularity of Nagambie and number of large events held in the area gives the local Brigade many opportunities to connect with the community and turn public events into major fundraising opportunities.

Let’s

Nagambie Brigade have focused on assisting with car parking at major events in the area, supplying a team of volunteers to direct patrons in the car park before an event and exit safely after the event.

“We are lucky that so many large and popular events are held in Nagambie.” Says Fiona Harper, Treasurer, Community Safety Co-ordinator and Fire fighter for Nagambie CFA

“They give us the opportunity to be seen in the community, build relationships and rattle tins to fundraise for important safety equipment for the brigade and its members.”

“People like to support CFA and we like being out and about connecting with the community and keeping them safe”.

This year Nagambie brigade has had a presence at ‘A Day on the Green’ at Mitchelton Winery with Wirrate Brigade and assisted with parking at the APS Head of the River Regatta and Goulburn Head of the River Regatta.

This weekend, September 15 to 17 will be another big one with the Cranksters Cruise coming to town.

The Cranksters Cruise is a popular weekend for Hot Rodders from around the country with over 800 vehicles on show at the Nagambie Regatta Centre with the event attracting upto 5000 visitors.

Nagambie Brigade has been involved with this event for the past five years and receives a donation from the organisers for assisting with the car parking.

Nagambie brigade doesn’t stop there with their community engagement and fundraising activities, they also;

-          Attend over eight community markets during the year, engaging with the community and selling fire extinguishers and fire blankets whilst delivering the CFA Fire safety messages

-          Hold regular wood raffles which is very popular amongst the locals

-          Provide a Fire Extinguisher Maintenance service, servicing local businesses and generating an income for the brigade.

The brigade is working towards building a new fire station, replacing the ultra-light tanker and acquiring a Forward Command unit.

“We are a busy brigade” says Fiona. “You have to work together as a team to make it happen”

If you are heading to the Cranksters Cruise this weekend, keep an eye out for the yellows.
