Light aircraft crash at Chelsea

CFA is at the scene of a light plane crash at Chelsea.

Crews were called to the incident around 1.30pm where a plane had come down in a laneway along The Strand.

In crashing it clipped the front of a house and as a result there was a small fire which is now out. The house has also been damaged.

Victoria Police has confirmed that one person has died at the scene. It is not known at this stage whether anyone was home at the time the plane crashed.

Police and ambulance are on scene. Three trucks and support vehicles from Edithvale, Frankston and Patterson River are assisting.

There will be further investigation surrounding the circumstances of the crash.
