Light tanker for Red Cliffs

Captain Glenn Shaw and the other members of Red Cliffs Fire Brigade are delighted to welcome the first light tanker in District 18.

Unlike most CFA fire trucks, the cab of the new 1300-litre light tanker is not red but white for a saving of $6000. The brigade topped up their Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program grant with $25,000 of their own funds in order to secure the vehicle.

“We needed the tanker because our heavy weight truck was too big to manoeuvre along riverbanks and through the region’s numerous fruit blocks,” said Red Cliffs brigade Secretary Robert Dean

The keys to the truck were handed over on November 2, with the brigade holding an open day around the event for all community members keen to learn more about the brigade and fire safety.

Also taking place on the day was the handing over of the Captain’s Award to hard-working Tom Leach who also received his 1500 turn-out trophy.
