Members from Mernda Fire Brigade and Whittlesea SES attended the Mernda Rail Open Day, engaging with the community, promoting home and fire safety and showing off the new Mernda pumper.
Despite the cold, wet day on Sunday 19 August, hundreds of people came to check out the three new stations along the new extension of the South Morang rail line.
The extension of the South Morang Line to Mernda highlights extensive urbanisation in the brigade area, with Mernda brigade now attending more than 300 incidents every year.
The Mernda Line begins service on 26 August.
