In recent weeks City of Greater Bendigo’s Compliance Officer has been inspecting properties that have recently had structures built in accordance with a BOM and were subject to a planning permit.
One of the requirements is that the properry owner has to install water tanks for firefighting purposes.
In the majority of cases compliance was achieved.
However, it was suggested that brigades should take the time to undertake a site visit to familiarise themselves with each site, to give them the opportunity to look at how the water supply can be effectively used, and to discuss fire safety with the owner.
