Miners Rest Fire Brigade celebrates 75 years

On Sunday 25 October Miners Rest brigade officially celebrated 75 years of service. 

The Afternoon started with MC Alan Ford welcoming all guests to the Miners Rest Fire Station. He then handed over to the Mayor of City of Ballarat, Louise Staley MLA, and Catherine King to speak. They all congratulated the brigade on their 75 years.

Next was Tom Ford talking about the brigade’s history for the first 25 years, then Gary Lyttle about the next 25 years and finally Graeme Ford speaking about the last 25 years of history.

They all shared stories and major events of what occurred in their timeframe.

A history book is available to purchase through the brigade if anyone is interested.

CFA Board Member Michael Tudball and Acting Operations Manager Gavin Hope presented all service medals to members, including two 65 years’ service medals to Tom Ford and Bill Loader.

The Board member then surprised a few members by presenting them with National Medals and clasps.

The Junior Brigade then served afternoon tea and refreshments to all guests while everyone congratulated the recipients and the familiar faces from the past and present.

Congratulations to Miners Rest on their 75 years of service.
