Monbulk panel beater fire

CFA firefighters have been battling a blaze at a panel beater building in Monbulk this morning (17 August).

CFA District 13 Operations Officer Ian Cross said crews were called to the fire on Main Road around 9.50am, to a building fire around 15x25 metres in size.

“We had crews internally attacking the fire which quickly stopped the spread of the fire,” he said.

“The building is heavily fire and smoke-damaged.”

Ian said the fire was brought under control just before 10.15am.

Those working in the building at the time had safely self-evacuated.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, but is not believed to be suspicious.

Seven crews from Monbulk, Sassafras, Belgrave, Mt Evelyn and Kallista-The Patch attended the incident.
