Multiple fires at Morwell overnight

CFA responded to three separate structure fires in Morwell overnight (3 April).

The initial call was to a fire at an unused hotel just after 3.30am on Collins and Buckley streets.

This fire was contained to the laundry room area.

When a CFA truck was travelling back to station around 3.50am, they found a house in Hopetoun Avenue on fire.

The single-storey weatherboard home was completely destroyed by fire.

Then just after 6am CFA was called to another house fire in Hopetoun Avenue. On arrival the house was well alight. The single storey weatherboard house was completely destroyed.

No one was inside any of the three structures at the time of the fires.

The cause for all three fires is believed to be suspicious and have been handed to Victoria Police.

Victoria Police believe the fires are linked and are asking any witness to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
