CFA brigades across District 12 have shared in $4.8 million dollars in community donations made during the recent bushfire season.

The District Pick List Program will supply more than $4.8 million in items which will provide an immediate benefit to brigades.

CFA’s District Planning Committees are in the process of ordering items for their brigades from a list. Hoses, mobile toilet trailers, defibrillators, thermal imaging cameras, washing machines and chainsaws are just some of the 28 items on the list.

Ninety-five per cent of CFA’s more than 1200 brigades took up the offer to select items from the District Pick List Program. Close to 11,000 individual items were selected from the list.

Thermal imaging cameras, defibrillators, truck licences and apparel including T-shirts, shorts and hats for CFA members were among some of the items picked by brigades in Murrindindi Shire.

Assistant Chief Fire Officer Rob Van Dorsser said the District List Program has been great for brigades to specifically pick items they require.

“I’ve had a lot of positive feedback from the program and it’s great to see the donations made over summer going directly to brigades.

“Thermal imaging cameras will help brigades make sure fires are out. They’ll reduce the amount of time crews are on scene and make sure water is being used effectively.

“Having more licences will allow more members to be trained in operating CFA vehicles and again improve our overall ability to respond.”

“The recognition CFA received over the 2019-20 fire season was amazing.

“It’s great to see just how much support CFA has, and although members don’t volunteer for recognition it’s nice to know their hard work isn’t going unnoticed.”
