National Medals and 80th Anniversary

Coimadai Fire Brigade members came together recently to witness the presentation of National Medals and to celebrate the anniversary of the Brigade's 80th Birthday.

National Medals were presented by ACO Peter O'Keefe to Captain Greg Atterbury and 3rd Lt Donald Journet.

In welcoming all to the evening, Captain Greg Atterbury said, "At Coimadai we are an uncomplicated bunch. We get on with the job and do what needs to be done. My personal thanks go out for that."

Greg went on to acknowledge the "wide and versatile age range of members and their diverse backgrounds and skill sets that make the brigade who they are.

"I'm proud to be a member of Coimadai Fire Brigade and you all are what keeps me coming back."

Following the medal presentations, brigade treasurer and former captain, Jim Ross, took centre stage to announce the 80th anniversary of the Coimadai Fire Brigade. After giving a brief history of the brigade, including the relocation of the old fire shed following the construction and flooding of the Merrimu Reservoir (where the old township of Coimadai was originally located), Jim officially launched the brigade's new logo and commemorative wine.
