In May 2017, CFA announced the purchase of land at 128 Ingliston Road Ballan for the purposes of building a new Victorian Emergency Management Training Centre, giving local firefighters and emergency services personnel better access to practical training.
The campus will provide an ‘all hazards’ approach.
A Planning Application has now been lodged with Moorabool Shire Council for a state-of-the-art training facility for emergency services.
The campus will provide an ‘all hazards’ approach which gives trainees the skills and practical experience to further enhance their role in protecting lives and property.
The 35 hectare site will boast ‘live fire’ simulations powered by LPG, life-size, operational firefighting props, specialist training capabilities, breathing apparatus facilities, a change room, on-site parking and infrastructure to support day-to-day operations at the campus.
Training programs are designed to use clean fuels and fire retardants and the site is designed for full compliance with standards for environmental impact, emission control and water management.
Water treatment and management systems will treat and recycle training water within the site.
The new facility will be a great asset to the region - supporting training programs now and into the future.
CFA will hold two community information sessions to display plans, talk through the planned use of the site and answer questions about the new facility and its place in the local community.
