Planned burn campaign begins

Autumn brings favourable conditions for planned burning, with crews taking advantage of the weather to conduct a large amount of operations across the state over the next month.

Crews will be continuing planned burning through to May or June, weather permitting, to prepare for next summer.

Planned burns are carefully planned and managed by experienced crews, and only go ahead when the weather forecast and conditions are safe. If you see or smell smoke, it could be a planned burn. For the latest information about where burns are underway or planned, go to www.vic.gov.au/plannedburn or call 1800 240 667. You can also see burns underway on the FireReady smartphone app.

An information campaign is underway, outlining how planned burns are conducted by expert fire crews from DELWP, along with Parks Victoria and CFA, to help reduce the risk of bushfire across our state.

The campaign will help inform Victorians about where and when planned burn operations are carried out and help people prepare. Look out for this TV ad:
