Successful fundraiser for Portland Fire Brigade

Portland Fire Brigade BBQ fundraiser was a success despite the weather.

On Saturday 2 May Portland Fire Brigade held a BBQ fundraiser in conjunction with the Woolworths petrol station. The brigade was approached by the manager of the petrol station, Andrea Shepard, to hold a fundraising event that would raise vital funds for Portland brigade.

The staff at the petrol station offered full car service to their customers for a donation while the brigade ran a BBQ and had several fire trucks on display. Captain Koala also made an appearance and was an instant hit with the kids.

The weather was cold and wet but the event was well supported by the Portland community. Many people appreciated the full car service offered at the petrol station and also the sausage sandwiches on offer.

More than $500 was raised from both the BBQ and also donations from customers at the petrol station who enjoyed a full car service experience. The brigade and staff from the Woolworths petrol station are looking to make this an annual event and the hope is that next time the weather will be a lot better.
