Pyramid Hill at Australasian Champs

A team of six from Pyramid Hill Fire Brigade will be competing against 29 other teams at the Australasian Firefighters Championship to be held in Echuca on 23-25 October. The teams come from across Australasia, including teams from New Zealand and Fiji.

Robert Moon is the Pyramid Hill team captain and coach.

“There’s a good mix of youth and more experienced members,” he said, “which means we’ve got both pace and endurance. Shane Morris from Boort brigade is our pump operator and he’s got the practical experience. There are 10 events and our team will be in every one.”

The members are looking forward to making a weekend of it and catching up with friends from previous championships and strike teams.

“We’re serious about the competition but it’s the networking and camaraderie that we most enjoy,” continued Robert.

“My two sons and two nephews are in the team and we’re going through generational change, so this weekend is all about keeping the team together and building on the skills that help us protect the community we serve.”
