Firefighters have been praised for their quick response to a grassfire near Wangaratta on Saturday afternoon (December 1).

The daughter of the owners of one the properties impacted by the fire said she was extremely grateful for the work of CFA and other emergency services.
Posting on Facebook, Brooke Sheppard Ross said: "For one hour these selfless people, assisted by DSE and Forestry members, battled the dry grass and intermittent wind that fanned the flames into our bushland paddocks."
Crews from Eldorado, Everton, Springhurst, Tarrawingee, Wangaratta, and Wangaratta North were called to the fire on the Tarrawingee-Eldorado Rd at around midday. The fire was brought under control by 12.25pm.
