Roof fire in Beaconsfield

CFA crews have been called to a fire in the roof of a cafe in Beaconsfield.

Crews were first called just after 1pm to reports of a fire in a roof on Woods St, Beaconsfield.

The cafe and a kindergarten next door were both evacuated, with the kinder now advised that it is safe to return.

Six CFA vehicles have been called to the scene including crews from Beaconsfield, Berwick and Pakenham brigades, with support from FRV.

The fire has been contained to the roof of the main building, with the scene declared under control just after 2pm.

Crews remain on scene, and the cause of the fire will be investigated.
