On Tuesday 30 June and Wednesday 1 July, District 8 sent along the Safe Mistakes trailer to the Cranbourne Botanical Gardens to interact with parents and children that were attending the centre during the school holidays.
There were three marquees set up with three themes being:
- Mistakes at home cause fires
- Take an awkward photo
- Get a bad tattoo
The displays were well received by those taking a leisurely stroll through the gardens and enjoyed stopping in to get a tattoo, dress up and take photos and listen to home fire safety advice.
It was amazing just how many of the older youth and adults that attended admitted to placing laptops on the bed after closing the screen but not turning the unit off as well as leaving phone chargers on all night.
The marquees were manned by brigade administration support officers, community education coordinator, staff and volunteers from Cranbourne Fire Brigade.
