Fish Creek & District Fire Brigade hosted the local Scouts group to teach them about fire safety and the different tools used by firefighters.

Captain Kerry Senior led the session alongside other brigade members, giving more than 10 Scouts members a behind-the-scenes look into what their local fireys get up to.

“We got the rescue equipment out and showed them how it works and why we use it,” she said.

“After we’d pointed out all the features of the fire truck, we gave them a shot at holding a fire hose and spraying water, which they really enjoyed.

“We also discussed the changes to the Fire Danger Rating System to become nationally consistent and property preparation tips.

“There may have been a few future fireys in the group.”

The brigade meets with the local Scouts group annually, which gives them a chance to reach young members of the community.

“It’s good to network with members of other community groups and especially rewarding to help them understand what we do and why we do it.”
