CFA and MFB were invited to attend and had an amazing day interacting with the Sikh community and passing on valuable home fire safety information.
The festival started with the sound of bag pipes and a Sangti procession through Federation Square.

A large proportion of the Sikh community was born overseas and didn't grow up with information about fire services and home fire safety. So the day was a great opportunity to explain what CFA and MFB do and how community members can help protect themselves and their families.
CFA’s April and Captain Koala, Eltham Firefighter Mandeep Singh and MFB members were invited onto the main stage to entertain the crowd and deliver home fire safety messaging.
Mandeep, a member of the Sikh community, translated the home fire safety messaging into Punjabi. Read more about Mandeep in this article - Keeping new Aussies fire safe is a job worth doing.
Thank you to the Sikh community for inviting us to attend. We look forward to continuing to work with them and other CALD communities throughout Victoria.
