Smoke warning for SA, Vic border

Fire authorities in Victoria and South Australia would like to advise that smoke along the southern section of the border is coming from a peat fire burning 20km north east of Mount Gambier, near Strathdownie.

The underground fire started on Saturday, 7 November and is currently under control but may take an extended period to make safe. Property owners and CFA crews are continuing to work on the fire to ensure that it does not spread. However, smoke is visible from nearby communities and roads, including Mount Gambier.

An Advicemessage has been issued.
