State Forum returns - Joins with SES

The Community Engagement State Forum is back in 2015 and for the first time, this year’s event to be held in Creswick will see CFA members team up with VICSES and their community engagement volunteers. Save the date 1 – 2 August, 2015.

The State Forum encourages like-minded members from across Victoria to get together, build on their community engagement knowledge and share their local community safety initiatives.

The return of the State Forum follows the great success of this event that has grown over the past four years in Macedon (2011), Creswick (2012), Bendigo (2013) and Preston (2014). You can see some of the presentations from last year’s event online here.

CFA Chief Officer Euan Ferguson said today that “last year in Preston there were around 400 members representing 185 different CFA brigades. To team up with SES this year and have around 500 passionate members from across the State will make the event pretty special”.

Event              CFA/SES Community Engagement and Hazard Awareness State Forum

2015 Theme   Community Connections – Let’s join forces

Date                Saturday August 1 and Sunday August 2, 2015

Venue             Novotel Forest Resort, Creswick

The State Forum is led by the Member Engagement Volunteer Reference Group and the theme for this year’s event is ‘Community Connections – Let’s join forces’. The Chief went on to say that “whether we are engaging the community to be prepared for a fire, a flood or something else, the best way to go about can be the same, so there is a great opportunity for CFA and SES to work together on this”.

This year’s event is timely for CFA to support brigade members undertaking a community safety role within their brigade. Community Safety will be a mandatory function on Brigade Management Teams (BMT’s) as per the new Brigade and Membership Classification changes at brigade elections held in 2015 and 2016.

If you are a CFA member interested in your community’s safety then save the date in your diary. Registrations of interest will be opening soon.
