State Rostering Application goes live

The new CFA State Rostering Application (SRA) will go live for all integrated brigades this week when the final two stations finish training.

Corio and Geelong City brigades will go live on Friday 26 June, eight months on from when the staggered rollout of SRA began in October last year, bringing all 34 integrated brigades onto the system.

Acting Chief Officer John Haynes said the new web-based system replaces the manual paper-based model, which had long been out-dated.

“This is the first time we’ve had a central rostering system for CFA staff. It’s the biggest procedural change we’ve implemented state-wide in years,” John said.

“And as we hoped, it’s already helping to reduce paperwork and speed up payment processing for all staff.

“Learning new technology can take time and effort so I appreciate everyone’s patience throughout this process.”

Improvements have also been made along the way based on feedback from the first brigades to start using SRA.

These include the automation of some entitlements and allowances, and changes to the system’s layout and display to make it more user-friendly.

SRA can be accessed on the CFA computer network and timesheets can now be validated remotely.

Staff can view rosters online and see any entitlements that are due.

The system also provides in-built help material to assist new users as they get used to navigating their way around.

Once further consultation takes place with industrial bodies, it’s hoped SRA will be rolled out more broadly to all CFA staff and volunteers, and eventually transform the way members are rostered through long-running incidents.

A pilot program has also been running in District 13 since December last year to trial a more efficient method of rostering staff for strike teams.

Volunteers can upload their availability in real time which can be used locally to plan for strike team crews. For further information visit the Intranet or contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
