You can now take a tour of CFA’s new Prototype Pumper Tanker from the comfort of your home.
With the planned demonstrations of the vehicle impacted by ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, a 3D virtual tour has been produced to allow members to explore its design and features.
The vehicle has been through final fit out, functional testing and quality assurance inspections, with training material now in development to support its transition into service.
The pumper tanker’s features include:
- 15T Iveco Eurocargo 4x2 crew cab chassis with full Allison automatic transmission fitted with hydraulic retarder
- 3,000-litre water tank
- 2,500 litres per minute water pump
- 30-metre Ø25mm live hose reel
- 200-litre Class B and 50-litre Class A foam capability
- Full stowage inventory
Take the tour. Please use the specific target points to view additional information and watch the video link on the steering wheel
There are some features you will notice straight away such as new control screens, a thermal imaging camera mounted on the bull bar with a display inside the cabin, and battery-operated tools. Some features including the hydraulically-driven pump, new tray door locks, luminous handrails for ease of use at night, and a rear body-mounted electronic messaging board may not be so obvious unless you look more closely.
The working group for the development of the vehicle includes CFA volunteers, VFBV representatives and members of the Operations and Fleet teams.
“The input of the working group members over the past two years has been critical to get to this point,” Head of CFA Fleet and PE Danny Jones said
“On behalf of the Fleet Team, I hope you enjoy exploring the vehicle through this technology from the comfort of your own home.
“The idea for a 3D tour came from Bayswater Fire Brigade and a tour of their BA van. I would like to thank their 1st Lt Jamie McFarlane for his assistance in putting this tour together.”
