Top honours for CFA members

CFA members are among those recognised in Australia Day honours for contributions to the fire service and their communities.

The Governor-General has today announced the list of more than 820 people who have made a significant difference to their communities across a range of professions, services and industries.

CFA Chief Officer Euan Ferguson congratulated all CFA members recognised for their incredible efforts, hard work and dedication to the organisation and the wider community.

Recipients include Gary Harker, Jamie Mackenzie and Ivan Smith who will receive an Australian Fire Service Medal.

CFA members recognised for their work in emergency services and the broader community through a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) include Wayne Bass, Geoffrey Broughton, Ian Cooper, Alan Stuart, Les Ridd, Viv Willliams and Helen Kenney, and Rachel Dawkins who was awarded an AFSM.

OAM recipients also include Paul Jenkins, Bernard Gross and Maurice Sharkey who are recognised for contributions to their communities.

“Both CFA and the wider community can be very proud of the achievements of these individuals,” Mr Ferguson said.

“Today is also a timely reminder of the outstanding work all our people do.”
