Total Fire Ban for Mallee and Northern Country Saturday 12 January

Severe weather conditions  in the Mallee and Northern Country regions tomorrow has seen a Total Fire Ban declared from 00:01 Saturday January 12 to 23:59 Saturday January 12.

A Total Fire Ban for Mallee and Northern Country has been declared.

 

During this time, no fire can be lit in the open air or be allowed to remain alight in the open air.

 

State Commander Gregg Patterson cautioned all residents and travelers within the Mallee and Northern Country to assess and develop their fire plans as necessary to ensure a safer environment for themselves and their family.

 

“Preparedness is integral to risk mitigation when severe weather events are predicted and this will be the case tomorrow”.

 

“Check your fire plans, keep yourself and pets hydrated, make sure to download the VicEmergency App and listen to local and state media throughout the day”.

 

“Fires can move rapidly and unpredictability and we all need to be aware of the potentially fatal risks that develop on days like tomorrow, particularly following a day that has seen temperatures reach between 36-40°C on Friday.”

 

“Max temperatures between 38-43°C in the north are expected and we must do everything we can to prepare ourselves.”
