CFA crews have been praised for their efforts in rescuing a man who fell down a two metre concrete pit in Yering today (23 July).
Just before 11am, CFA was called to perform a confined space rescue after a man fell while working on a private property in the Yarra Valley.
CFA District 13 Operations Officer Tim Holland said the man sustained injuries in the fall, but he was stable and able to speak with crews.
“Because of the tight location where the man fell, it took some time to get the right rescue equipment to the scene and perform the rescue,” he said.
“The man was put onto a stretcher and we used a vertical lift on a tripod to help the man to safety.”
The man was rescued from the pit just before 1pm and treated by Ambulance Victoria before being transported to hospital.
Tim praised the efforts of all the crews attending.
“The rescue was performed extremely well by all those involved, including Ambulance and SES,” he said.
CFA trucks from Monbulk, Lilydale, Coldstream, Dandenong and Frankston attended, with WorkSafe and police.
