Truck fire on Hume Freeway

CFA crews responded to a truck fire yesterday (Thursday, 9 February) after a milk truck on the Hume Freeway in Beveridge caught fire.

Crews were called at 8.20am to the truck, southbound on the freeway.

Wallan Fire Brigade Lieutenant Peter Clarke said cabin of the truck was fully alight when crews arrived.

“There was a considerable amount of milk and debris which had spilled onto the road as a result of the fire,” he said.

“Crews did a fantastic job in containing the fire to the cabin and not preventing any further spread of the fire.”

Police attended for traffic control. CFA crews from Wallan, Kal Kallo and Wandong attended.
