Truganina works to keep towns safe

Truganina Fire Brigade recently hosted Wyndham Vale and Point Cook Brigades to a recent hazard reduction roadside burn in Shanahans Road, Mt Cottrell.

"This is one of a number of strategic areas we have identified for hazard reduction burning this year," explains Deputy Group Officer Trevor Davis.

Bordering the Chartwell, Mt Cottrell and Tarneit localities, this tireless hazard abatement program by the Truganina and surrounding brigades will help make those areas safer in the event of a grasfire in the area.

It was also a perfect opportunity to teach recently graduating recruits, as well as members who hadn't undertaken many of these types of hazard reduction burns, how to do it correctly and safely, under the watchfull eye of DGO Davis and other senior members.
