Two properties destroyed in Korumburra

This morning at 2am crews were called to a structure fire in Mine Road, Korumburra.

At this stage it appears that the fire started in a shop approximately six by 20 metres in size, and then spread to an adjoining house.

Approximately nine trucks plus multiple support vehicles attended the fire. Due to strong winds the fire spread onto the adjoining property.

Crews from Korumburra, Kongwak, Leongatha, Leongatha South, Loch, Poowong, Ruby and Traralgon worked hard to contain the fire which was called under control at 4am.

Police and the power company attended the scene.

“It could have been much worse if not for the efforts of crews which stopped the fire spreading to three other properties”, said Simon Bloink Operations Officer, District Nine.

Fortunately there were no injuries. The cause of the fire will be investigated this morning.
