The Emergency Management Pride Network Victoria (EMPNV) has officially launched.
The network was founded to raise awareness and visibility of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Queer (LGBTIQ) community and allies from Victoria’s emergency management sector. It aims to create a more inclusive and collaborative environment.
The EMPNV launch was held online via Zoom to accommodate COVID-19 restrictions and featured a variety of speakers.
Now, with the official launch and the group fully formed with representatives from agencies and organisations across Victoria’s emergency management sector, the network is able to begin its important work.
The EMPNV looks forward to developing partnerships with other pride networks, groups, and initiatives in Victoria, and exploring opportunities interstate and overseas.
Many executives from across the Emergency Services sector have come together to congratulate members for the successful launch of the network.
CFA Acting CEO Catherine Greaves said CFA is thrilled to be part of the network.
“CFA is thrilled to be part of the Emergency Management Pride Network Victoria and the emergency services sector as we lead the way as a collective to raise awareness, visibility and support of the LGBTIQ community.
“This will drive increased inclusion as well as improved wellbeing and mental health outcomes for all of our people. “
Ambulance Victoria CEO Tony Walker congratulated everyone for getting this network up and running.
“It’s an exciting day, we talk about working as one across the Emergency Management sector and this is a great opportunity to create a safe space where people can be their authentic selves every single day.”
FRV Fire Rescue Commissioner Ken Block said FRV proudly supports our LGBTIQ communities, colleagues, family and friends.
“The launch of the EMVPNV will empower our people and our diverse community and make our sector stronger.”
