Water sampling concludes at Fiskville

Over the past two weeks, we have undertaken an extensive water testing program at CFA’s Fiskville training facility.

Environmental advisers have collected more than 550 water samples from taps, showers, hydrants and outlets across all areas of the site.

These samples have been sent to labs for analysis and we are expecting to get the final results within the next week. When we receive these results, we will need to take time to interpret and consider them before deciding our next steps.

I understand this process is taking longer than first expected and the suspension of operations is having a significant impact on many of our people. I’d like to remind anyone who has questions or is feeling concerned to call the Fiskville Enquiry Hotline on 1800 628 616. We also have a free and confidential counseling service for all CFA members and their families via the Members Assistance Program on 1300 795 711

For our staff at Fiskville, we have set up a temporary office at the Bacchus Marsh Civic & Community Centre at Darley. Staff are already in the process of moving into the offices, where they will continue to work on the coordination of training across the state. I would like to thank the Moorabool Shire for their cooperation and welcoming CFA to the building.

Fiskville staff have also been working through the relocation of training programs to other CFA campuses and participants have been informed of these changes.

I’ll keep you all updated on progress in the coming days and weeks.
