Wellbeing sessions for local communities

CFA is working with key community groups to offer wellbeing sessions at various locations across the Mitchell and Murrindindi Shires.

Wellbeing

The sessions are part of a joint initiative in the lead-up to the 10-year anniversary of the February 2009 bushfires.

Operations Manager Tony O’Day said the focus of the sessions is to provide practical skills and tools to members of our communities which might assist with “getting the conversation started”.

“The skills you will learn might not only help someone you’re talking to, they might also help you nurture your own wellbeing,” Mr O’Day said.

“It’s important for these communities to continue to support each other and reach out to each other in times of need.”

“The challenge can be knowing what to do or say that will be of most help to someone.”

“We encourage the community to attend these sessions and hopefully they will feel comfortable using the skills they gain.”

The sessions will include information about mental health, active listening and conversation skills and personal resilience.

The sessions are being run in several locations during October and November. To register for these free sessions go to Eventbrite.

For further information about the sessions, phone 0400 082 088 during business hours.
