Werribee to mark 100th in style

Werribee Brigade is celebrating their 100th year this Saturday February 28, and wants you to come along to help mark the occasion.

Werribee Brigade Auxiliary Treasurer Jodi Higgs says the brigade plans to celebrate the milestone with a plaque unveiling, and station opening from 2:00pm – and anyone is welcome to join the celebrations.

“Werribee has been run by a group of dedicated volunteers serving the Werribee and surrounding areas for 100 years now – which is an amazing achievement when you think about it.”

“We are all about serving our community, and we have over 100 active members who volunteer their time and efforts to do just that.”

One of the things Jodi loves about the Brigade is its culture and community spirit.

“We are a very tight knit brigade we all work really well together.”

“We have a huge family base in the brigade and many members from the same family, or members who have carried on the family tradition by participating in the brigade,” Jodi said.

Highlights of Werribee’s 100 years include the development of their road capability rescue, competing in several Australasian Road Rescue challenges and winning the Championships in 2010 and 2011.
